FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AVANU and CAI Networks Incorporate Load Balancing Into Microsoft Office
Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition Deployments
WebMux Load Balancer Assures Maximum Availablitiy
San Jose, CA, November 16, 2004
AVANU® and CAI Networks™
announced today the availability of WebMux™ version 5.8.08 or higher load
balancer for Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise
Edition®. WebMux, a low cost, high performance and easy-to-deploy load
balancer helps deliver added security, availability and scalability to the
improved architecture of Live Communications Server 2005, a next-generation
enterprise instant messaging and presence-awareness server. Microsoft
validated WebMux in interoperability tests using the Live Communications
Server 2005 environment.
"Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition's tiered architecture
benefits customers by substantially improving reliability, availability and
scalability," said Marc Sanders, Senior Product Manager, Real-Time
Collaboration at Microsoft. "The WebMux load balancer helps with data
center deployment requirements that are critical to our enterprise
customers by providing a low cost, high performance load balancing solution."
"We are delighted that the low-cost, high value WebMux version 5.8.08
load balancer has been tested by Microsoft to meet the requirements of
enterprise customers," said Pamela Sun, President of AVANU. "We have
WebMux load balancers installed worldwide in all types of businesses,
including Fortune 500 companies, federal and local government agencies,
educational institutions and Internet hosting companies, all of whom
depend on the high availability of their servers."
The WebMux version 5.8.08 and higher load balancer provides trustworthy
traffic management and scalability with ease of deployment. These key
factors were validated in interoperability tests performed by Microsoft®
and CAI Networks in the Live Communications Server 2005 environment. The
Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition network topology
incorporates a pool of servers to service client sessions. With a WebMux
load balancer, incoming client traffic is managed and directed to servers
within this pool so that no single server becomes overloaded.
Made in USA by CAI Networks, WebMux is a stand-alone, self-contained
and ready-to-install network appliance that provides high performance
management of IP traffic on Ethernet/Fast Ethernet 10/100. WebMux Pro
load balancer is available for GB Ethernet (1000Base-TX). The approach used
to achieve load balancing impacts the reliability and high availability of a
service. WebMux uses a dedicated hardware platform with an optimized load
balancing algorithm. This approach uses minimal overhead and requires no
software interaction or other resource contention. CAI Networks chose a
solid-state design approach for WebMux to eliminate hard drive failure
concerns and to enhance reliability and high availability of service.
Pricing and Availability
WebMux version 5.8.08 or higher for Live Communications Server 2005
Enterprise Edition is available today from AVANU and all resellers. The
WebMux load balancer delivers unmatched reliability with the industry's

three-year warranty with three years of free technical support.
