Santa Ana, California, Jan 31, 2011 - WebMux Provides End to End SSL Encryption.
CAI Networks announced a new firmware release 8.7.7 that supports end-to-end SSL encryption in
addition to load balancing and traffic management. Most load balancing and traffic management
devices on the market would terminate the SSL traffic into clear HTTP traffic and then use clear
HTTP to reach to the servers. WebMux′s new firmware provides an option to allow the data flow
between WebMux and servers being encrypted again. This feature is designed to meet the new PCI
(Payment Card Industry) standard expected in the summer of 2011.
WebMux provides sophisticated SSL traffic management features. Not only does it allow the use of
1024 and 2048 bit SSL keys to SSL terminate the traffic, but it also allows client side SSL verification.
It also allows up to 100 SSL certificates per device. With the addition of SSL end-to-end
encryption, it will be able to handle any possible needs for SSL traffic management. Customers
updated to the new firmware will experience better performance. Dr. Timothy Barton from Kingdomware
said, "We were able to update the primary unit 8.7 firmware. We immediately noticed a performance
improvement with SSL termination and HTTP traffic. Seems to be much faster getting page loads."
Version 8.7.x firmware is a major update from 8.6.x firmware. Customers with valid support contracts can
get firmware update free of charge.
WebMux, load balancing and application delivery controller, is one of the first such devices in the
industry. Since its initial development in 1997, WebMux has undergone tremendous enhancements in
functionality and performance. It has seen wide use and continued usage by governments, militaries,
businesses, universities, and other services throughout the world. WebMux is a solution certified by
both Microsoft® and Oracle®. WebMux is offered by many ISPs as a hosting option and sold
through resellers worldwide.
