CAI Networks Releases Major WebMux Upgrade Offering Transparent Presence and Performance Enhancement for Load Balancing, Traffic Management, and SSL Acceleration

Addition of Layer 2/3 Support Makes WebMux Unique in its Class

Santa Ana, CA, July 6, 2006 - CAI Networks today announced the release of version 8 of its WebMuxTM product family, simplifying configuration and network management via support of SNA layers 2/3 in addition to existing support of layers 4/7.  With version 8, WebMux performance capacity has been increased to support up to 3,000,000 layer-4 sessions and 70,000 layer-7 sessions.

WebMux is a widely used standalone, ready-to-install network appliance for load balancing and failover of multiple web and IP-based servers, traffic management to direct transactions to the appropriate servers based on URL or cookie, and SSL acceleration.

“We feel version 8 is a major step forward in making cost-effective load balancing, high availability, and SSL acceleration transparent in the network” said Wayne Yu, President of CAI Networks.  “Support of layers 2/3 puts WebMux on par with products costing five to ten times as much while offering equivalent or better performance and functionality.”

Unlike all other products in its class, WebMux v8 does not require content servers to be reconfigured for use with WebMux:  with WebMux’s new Transparent mode, IP addresses and network routes can remain unchanged, greatly simplifying WebMux implementation and network management.

Pricing and Availability

WebMux v8 is available today from CAI Networks Authorized Distributors AVANU (www.avanu.com) and Assured Network Solutions (Australia, www.assurednet.com.au) and CAI Networks resellers worldwide.  List pricing for WebMux model 480S (10/100) is $3,999, 590SG (10/100/1000) is $5,999, and 590SGX (10/100/1000 with hardware SSL acceleration) is $6,499.  All models include a 3-year warranty and three years of technical support.

WebMux v8 is implemented as a customer-installable firmware upgrade and is free to customers under warranty.
